Alumni Spotlight

"The best part of being at Trinity is that it changes your attitude . . . That's what it did for me.  Ever since I came, I'm a different person.  I will miss being here."  Dajvonae,  Class of 2010

Name: Nova Newcomer (Bakke)
Years attended: 1st-8th grade: graduated 1983-1991
Occupation: Communication Consultant

What sort of impact has Trinity Lutheran had on your personal and professional life?

Trinity was a great source of stability for me. I still am close friends with several of my Trinity classmates and still know about half of our class. I think Trinity prepared me well for achieving in high school and college. Even though it wasn't my favorite thing, I really think the memory work gave me excellent abilities to study and prepare for tests. The most personal impact Trinity has had are the amazing friends I still have to this day—25 years later.

Greatest memory?

I don't have one specific memory, but I always loved LEST in February, intramurals in the spring, square-dancing, playing the Oregon Trail on the Apple IIe, going to the Newport Aquarium for a field trip in Mr. Peterson's class, having an awesome volleyball team; and driving to remote schools to play basketball with Coach Jonathan Cleveland and the team. Oh, and I remember when the Cheetah came to visit from Wildlife Safari!

Three words that describe Trinity Lutheran:

Lifelong Friends, Foundational, Supportive.

I'm Nova Newcomer, and I believe in Trinity Lutheran School because Trinity believed in me.

"Trinity Lutheran School has been my home for the past ten years. Growing up here, I learned that anyone can be pushed to the best of their capabilities. The teachers grow a bond with the students and not only know them as kids they teach, but know the values and talents the students have. Trinity has definitely made a difference in my life physically and spiritually."
