"Trinity Lutheran School is a place where I know I can come and feel empowered to reach for my goals. I love my teachers and I've made so many friends here."
- Jennifer M. 5th grader

We welcome you to come and walk the halls, peek inside any classroom or eavesdrop on conversations and you will find a culture of hope, humbleness and the building of bonds that can withstand the challenges that living holds.

Trinity Lutheran prides itself in its diversity. Our students come from a variety of socio-economic, cultural and religious family backgrounds. To compliment our unique student population there are many co-curricular activities such as:

  • Theatrical productions
  • Instrumental and choral music
  • Art
  • Cooking Club
  • Athletic activities throughout the year
  • Lutheran Elementary School Tournament (L.E.S.T.)
  • Word Bugs
* Trinity Lutheran School competes in the Metro Christian League and the Lutheran Elementary School Tournament at Concordia University-Portland

Students are encouraged to respect, love and care for themselves, each other, and the community at large. It is this Christ-like attitude that makes Trinity Lutheran School students stand apart from the rest.

Trinity Word Bugs Readers

Our Word Bugs program was developed to help our students improve their reading, listening and facilitating skills. Students go out into the community reading at several Multnomah County Library locations,  local preschools, and/or childcare centers.  The Word Bugs also read monthly to the early childhood students of Trinity Lutheran School and help facilitate the weekly operation of the Trinity Lutheran School Library.

The Word Bugs program allows our students to do what they do best: read and serve. Contact the school office at (503) 288-6403, to have our Word Bugs come read at your school or childcare center.

Cooking Club

Cooking Club allows our students to improve their skills in the kitchen and community. A few times a year, Trinity Church partners with local business to feed the community through a variety of venues.

Trinity Lutheran School's Community Service Activities

Trinity Lutheran School's fine arts groups (choirs, drama, and band), the Cooking Club and the Word Bugs serve the community outside of Trinity Lutheran Church and School on an average of three times/month throughout the year receiving high praise for their endeavors from the people they have shared their talents with.

Lutheran Elementary School Tournament (L.E.S.T.)

The L.E.S.T. is a ministry of Concordia University-Portland in partnership with elementary schools of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.

The L.E.S.T. is based on the value of Christian education that emphasizes the love and praise of God, thankful use of personal talents and service to others. The primary goal of the L.E.S.T. is to provide an organized structure to promote fun, skill development, fair play, and fellowship among Lutheran elementary school youth through academic, athletic, and recreational activities. The tournament offers a variety of individual and team events that facilitate participants' emotional, intellectual, physical, and spiritual growth. Participation and maximal involvement for each school is encouraged. It is the position of the L.E.S.T. that participation in competition can facilitate optimal growth and development. By focusing on doing one's best, instead of overemphasizing winning, it is hoped that competition will promote a positive feeling of self-worth, as well as lifelong participation in academic and recreational activities.
