Trinity Band Syllabus Page Three -------Expectations------ All Band students must be at the band room or other specified location at the scheduled time with their music, instrument, or other items as required by the Band Director. Habitual tardiness or neglect in bringing said items to class may result in a lower grade. All scheduled concerts are mandatory for all band students. To be excused from a concert, you must have a serious reason, such as sickness or other circumstances that make it absolutely impossible for you to attend. Students that abuse this policy will fail band for that quarter. From time to time we need to extend our efforts outside the band room to obtain funds for the Band Program. It would be greatly appreciated if you would do your best to pitch in and help make these fundraisers a success. Please bring a good attitude with you each day to band. Always try to do the best you can. Lend a helping hand to your fellow band mates when they have trouble. Do your best listening in class (you will be glad you did). Set up a routine practice schedule at home so that you always practice. Practicing your instrument is the same as doing your home work in other classes. You would never think of skipping your home work! Never treat an instrument as if it were a toy. Always respect it's value. It can be expensive to repair a damaged musical instrument. Look for ways to improve yourself and the program. Tell the Band Director your ideas. Your input is important to him! Work with the Band Captain and Band Committee to help make improvements, or volunteer your time in organizational activities for the band. Work hard, have fun, and learn as much as you can. After a short time, you can give the gift of music to others, for their enjoyment! |
